This is a tutorial on how to replace a steering rack and pinion on a Honda. It is highly recommended that you get a wheel alignment after you replace the steering rack. ***HOW TO CENTER THE STEERING RACK SHAFT*** Before you attach the outer tie rods to the wheel hub, go inside the car behind the steering wheel. Attach the U-Joint (steering column to rack & pinion coupler), and tighten it but not fully torqued (just testing the positiong at this point). Turn the wheel all the way to one side (remember the steering wheel's position when it's all the way to one side). Now, turn the wheel all the way to the opposite side WHILE counting the number of turns it takes to reach the other end (my car in the video is 4.0 turns "Lock-to-Lock"). Then, calculate the half point of the entire rack shaft (mine would be 4 divided by 2 is 2). Turn the wheel back until it reaches the half point as best as you can (mine would be exactly 2 full turns back from one end). Once the rack is centered, disconnect the U-Joint coupler for the steering wheel to freely spin. Center the steering wheel as best as you can and reattach the U-Joint coupler and fully tighten it and put everything back. Finally, attach the outer tie rods to the wheel hub and try to adjust both front hubs so that they are straight forward and aligned; eyeball it, and try your best to make everything aligned. You need to have the car aligned at a shop when you're done with everything.
